Obituary of Gilberte Marie Hamand
HAMAND- Gilberte Marie Hamand (nee: Grenier), age 90, passed away peacefully in the Shellbrook Hospital on December 30, 2010. Gilberte was born June 1, 1920 on SW12 46 06 W3 east of Marcelin. She was raised on the farm and attended school at the Convent in Marcelin. As a young adult she participated in Finishing School and utilized this training in her everyday life. Gilberte married Albert Hamand on November 20, 1968. They worked and lived on the farm southwest of Blaine Lake, and retired in 1974. They enjoyed retirement in the house they built in the town of Blaine Lake. Gilberte enjoyed friends, gardening, sewing, and cooking. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Marie-Louise Grenier; her loving husband, Albert Hamand; two brothers, Gilbert (Antoinette) Grenier, Gerard (Bernadette) Grenier. She will be missed by her cousins, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The Funeral Liturgy was celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Marcelin on Monday, January 3 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Fr. Anthony Pangan as the celebrant. The organist was Maria De Girolamo and the St. Joseph Choir lead the music. The readers were David Grenier and Anita King and the crossbearer was Gage Piche. The pallbearers were Phillip Hamel, David Hutton, Rene Piche, Norman Desjardins, Marc Desjardins, Francis King. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's RC Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Gilberte. Interment took place in the Marcelin Cemetery.
