HUTTON Mrs. Elsie Heidi Hutton (nee Ferster) passed away peacefully January 16, 2011 at Herb Basset Centre in Prince Albert, Sask, age 84. Elsie leaves to mourn her passing her loving children Dennis (Elke) Hutton and their children Richard and Leah; Elaine (Dave) Halfhide and their children Kristen (Tyler) McCuaig and Alyssa (Michael) Bates with great grandchildren Corbin and Anna McCuaig and Ellie, Turner and Tessa Bates. Barbara (Donald) Hutton Brown and their children Steven and Jon Hutton and Carson Hutton Brown. Janice (Gilbert) Provencher and their children Carlie, Shane and Kyle McAleese. One sister Margaret Friend and a brother-in-law Doug (Sandi) Hutton. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Dick, her parents John and Mary Ferster. Her siblings Erma Feige, Alfred Suess, Louis Suess, Jenny Scott, Ottelia Bittner, Arnold Ferster and also sadly by her grandson Craig Hutton. Elsie was born March 2nd, 1926 in a granary on the Ferster Homestead - 1 miles south of the Hutton homestead in the Brightholme district. Their house burnt down, so the big family of 8 children lived in the granary. Elsie and Dick went to school together and eventually married in 1948. They worked side by side as a team and in due course four children Dennis, Elaine, Barbara and Janice were added to it. Elsie taught her children excellent work ethics, while also instilling stamina, patience and love. Very community- minded and always among the first to offer her help, she spent years organizing with the Lutheran Ladies Aid until the Brightholme Lutheran church burnt down. Elsie was also a Lifetime member of the Royal Purple in Shellbrook, where she was especially well known for her delicious pies. In addition, she spent many years canvassing a 25 mile radius from their farm for the Canadian Cancer Society all the while refusing to accept remuneration for gas. Elsie was small in stature, but mighty in her heart. She loved to have fun, singing songs and dancing around her home while working. She particularly enjoyed attending dances and socializing until the wee hours of the morning, despite the fact there was a full day of work ahead. Elsie was known as the most honest person around, who never placed judgment on anyone. Mom, your children thank you for all that you have done. You will be loved and missed forever. May her memory always bring a smile to everyone's heart and face. The service of Remembrance was held Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Shellbrook Elks Hall at 2pm. Pastor Chris Dean officiated, Barb Hutton Brown was the eulogist, David Hjertaas organist, Kelly Fitch soloist, Dennis Hutton urnbearer. The Family would also like to extend their appreciation for the many years of competent medical care provided by Dr. A. Fourie and his staff. In addition, a huge Thank You to Delia Martinez, Elsie's long-time caregiver with a big heart for the past 4 years. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes can be made in Elsie's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Shellbrook Hospital Project. Honorary mention goes to the Royal Purple Ladies who performed a Royal Purple Honor Guard Service. Interment of the cremated remains will be held at a later date. A special thanks to Tammy Smart and David Hjertaas of Beau "Lac" Funeral Home for their competent guidance with the funerary arrangements.
