Obituary of A. Viola Dafoe

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Agnes Viola Dafoe on January 28, 2011 in her home, Whispering Pine Place, Canwood, SK. at the age of 91 years. Viola was born on January 6, 1920 in the Polwarth district and grew up there with her parents, Erick and Anna Lofstrom and her siblings. She married Calvin Dafoe in 1941 and together they raised four children. They farmed in the Silent Call area and later lived in various communities in Saskatchewan during Calvin's career with C.N. Railway. Gramma was a private person. The focus of her life was her family. She had an inquiring mind and loved to read. She enjoyed gardening, cross-word puzzles, bird watching, fishing and was a wonderful cook. Viola was a Blue Jays fan and cheered the Rough Riders on to many victories. Viola leaves to cherish her memory; her children; Joanne (Ove) Clausen, Diane (Stan) Jantz, Daniel (Kathy) Dafoe, Brad (Debbie Felix) Dafoe, her grandchildren; Guy Clausen, Carey Jantz, Kim Jantz, Nathan Dafoe, Adam Dafoe, Storm Dafoe, one great grandson, Lukas Peterson, one sister, Ellen Grimm, one brother, Roy (Terry) Lofstrom as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by; her husband, Calvin Dafoe, her parents, Erick and Anna Lofstrom, brothers, August, Saxton, Henning, Walter, Oscar and a sister, Hilda. It was Viola's request that there be no service. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Whispering Pine Place Activities Dept. in lieu of other tributes. Beau "Lac" Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Donna Lovberg- Director.
