Obituary of Douglas "Leslie" Scorgie

Douglas Leslie Scorgie was born on October 3 1937 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; passed away peacefully February 16, 2011 in the Big River Health Center, with his loving wife and family by his side. Leslie was the son of Bruce and Edna (Pollard) Scorgie. He married Nettie Bergen in 1959 and together they welcomed 5 daughters into their family; Brenda was born in 1960, Janice in 1961, Bonnie in 1963, Jean in 1965, and Val in 1968. Les and Nettie farmed in Rapid Bend for many years raising cows and grain. He took over the Scorgie trapping lease when his dad could no longer continue. He logged, sawed lumber, netted fish and enjoyed all aspects of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and also loved fishing. His many adventures on the quad are legendary among the family. Les struggled with many health issues during his life but never allowed any of these to stop him from supporting his family and pursuing the things he loved to do. He was a true example of perseverance and determination. Les is survived by his loving wife Nettie, and his five daughters and their families Brenda (Arnold) Lueken - children Kendell, Jessica (Danny) and Cody: Janice (Robert) Olson - children Connie (Ken) Hulowski and their children Brooke, Braden & Tayah; Robert (Jamie) Olson and their children Joshua & Alexa; Bonnie (Kenny) Lueken - children Terri (Sean) and their daughter Peyton, Kelsi & Kirsten; Jean (Sheldon) Knoll; Val (Dwain) Smith - children Taylor & Faith; one sister Audrey (Pete) Bergen, and by numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews, neighbours, and friends. He was predeceased by his father Bruce Scorgie, His mother Edna Scorgie, his brother Larry Scorgie and his sister Joan Scorgie Funeral Services conducted by Beau Lac Funeral Home Ltd. on Saturday February 19 - Big River Community Center at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment at Lake Four Cemetery.
