Obituary of Carl Andrew Schweitzer

In loving memory of the late Carl Andrew Schweitzer who passed away April 24, 2011 in Lloydminster, Sask. Carl was born in the Pirch Lake area north of Paradise Hill, where he was raised and attended school. Carl came to Spiritwood in 1949 where he found employment with Clifton Construction and helped build the Elementary School in Spiritwood. Carl then found work with National Grain in Ranger, Sask later transferring to Spiritwood. While in Spiritwood Carl met and married Betty Walker where they raised their three children. Carl bought grain in Spiritwood until fire destroyed three of the four elevators. Carl and Betty then moved to Denholm, Sask. where he worked for Cargil Grain until his retirement. Carl and Betty moved back to Spiritwood and then purchased the Confectionary, operating it for ten years. Carl spent many hours with his woodwork, playing pool, cards and enjoying his grandchildren. Carl and Betty then moved to Lloydminster in 2001 where he remained until his passing. Carl leaves to cherish his memory: His Children: Grant and Doris Schweitzer, Pam and Rob Rohr, Lori and Garth Nicholson. His Grandchildren: Jennifer and Shawn MacGillivray, Jamie and Ehren Schroeder, Justin Rohr, Clint Nicholson and Jessica Ho, Cort Nicholson and Nicole Lay His Great Grandchildren: Zachary and Xavier MacGillivray A Brother: Martin and Lorraine Schweitzer, a Sister: Margaret and Reinhold Schneider His Brother and Sister in laws: Brian and Doris Stephens, Pat Gunderson, Lillian Walker & Jean Walker and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife of 49 years, Betty, in 2003, a granddaughter: Jana-Lea Schweitzer in 1993, his brothers: Frank, Joseph, Jack & Alfred Schweitzer, a sister: Theresa Krahenbel, his parents: Karl and Theresa Schweitzer, his brother and sisters inlaw: Karl Krahenbil, Ramona Schweitzer, Peggy Schweitzer, Margaret and George Doucette, Pete, Dennis, Alec, & Kenneth Walker, Mary and Ralph Heyden, Francis Schweitzer & Jeff Gunderson; and his nieces and nephews: Ken, Wade and Randy Gunderson, Darwin Szabo, Amanda Heyden & Shirley Doucette. Carl's celebration of life was held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 1:00pm from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Spiritwood. Officiating was Rev. Doug Miner, eulogy was given by his son-in-laws; Rob Rohr and Garth Nicholson, the reading Psalm 23 by his daughter in-law Doris Schweitzer, music was by Bill Martodam. A tribute to Grampa was written by his grandchildren and read by his grand daughters, Jennifer MacGillivray and Jamie Schroeder. Pallbearers were his grandchildren: Justin Rohr, Ehren Schroeder, Cort Nicholson, Clint Nicholson, Shawn MacGillivray and great grandson Zachary MacGillvray. Intermet took place in Spiritwood Cemetery, funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beau"Lac" Funeral Home of Spritwood. Email condolences will be forwarded: beaulacfuneralhome@sasktel.net
