Obituary of Sherman Harty

The prayer service for Mr. Sherman Harty will be held on Friday, May 20th, 2011 at 7:30 from the St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Leoville, SK. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 21st, 2011 at 2:00pm from the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Big River, SK. Sherman Anthony passed away peacefully with family by his side in Spiritwood on May 17, 2011 at the age of 81 years. One of eight siblings, Sherman was born Feb. 5, 1930 in Gull Lake, Sk. to Leo and Marie Harty. Sherman farmed in the Ladder Valley District at Big River. He also spent 30 years working for the Department of Agriculture as a Community Pasture Manager. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Grant (Lynda) Harty of Big River, Sk., Jack (Sheena) Harty of Cold Lake, AB., Casey (Chantale) Harty of Nepean, ON., Lisa (Dan Halko) of Leoville, Sk., Clay of Calgary, AB., his brothers and sisters: Philip Harty of Winnipeg, Man., Louise Tardif of Cranbrook, B.C., Joe(Grace)Harty of Big River, Sk., Ruth St. Marie of North Battleford, Sk., Shirley (Terry) Wall of Cranbrook, B.C., Pat(Sandy) Harty of Cagary, AB., and a sister-in-law Irene Harty of Winnipeg, MB., 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Vera in 1967, his second wife Alida in 2003, a brother Daniel Harty, his parents Leo and Marie, and his brothers-in-law Joe St.Marie and Henry Tardif.
