Obituary of Hazel Booker

The funeral service for the late Mrs. Hazel Booker was held on Wednesday, June 8th, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Ranger Community Hall in Ranger, SK. Hazel rests in the Ranger Cemetery next to her husband Stan. Born October 9, 1920 in Shell Lake, Hazel was the 7th of 16 children of Louis and Sigrid Loseth. As a young woman she kept house and looked after children for various families in the Shell Lake Community. One such family was Olive and Carl Lutz. Olive, a teacher at Edgewater later became her sister-in-law. Hazel married Stan Booker in 1942 and they started living as pioneers in the Ranger District. They raised their family of two girls and four boys in a small log house with a porch and a wonderful cribbed cellar. Sandy soil in the cellar kept the roots and vegetables from the garden firm until spring. A couple rows of shelves held the jars of vegetables, fruits, jams, jelly and meats she canned. Hazel was a member of the Ranger Ladies Club for years and an honorary member until her death. An unfortunate accident in the spring of 2010 made it impossible for her to resume living in the farmhouse that she and Stan moved into in the late 1960's. The Evergreen Center has been her home for the past year and a day. Hazel will be lovingly remembered by: her children; Evelyn (Albert) Cooling of Ranger, SK, Dennis Booker of Ranger, SK, Donald Booker of Prince George, BC, Mavis (Edward) Crossland of Spiritwood, SK, Vernon (Marilyn) Booker of Ranger, SK, Loren Booker of Ranger, SK; her grandchildren & great grandchildren: Janell (Miles) Mayer & children Britt, Tyson & Madison, Jaydene (Roland) Loranger & children Jarrod & Kyara, Jade (Sherylyn Beuker) & children Jorry, Carli & Jole, Janisa Cooling & children Garret, Gavin & Griffin Wourms, Jerrilyn Cooling & daughter Camryn; Bradly (Amy) Crossland & daughter Aubrey, Nadia (Chad) Lehman & children Brittany, Jacob, Miranda,& Braily; Nadine Crossland (Colin Beckworth); Tara (Devin) Kuffert & children Shayna & Kaden; Stacey (Ben) Saam & children Ryker & Haylee; Lance (Dinah) Booker & children Mariah & Kastin. Her brother and sister; Stanley Loseth, Marjorie Simonar and sister in law Edna Loseth Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by: Her husband Stanley Her parents: Louis & Sigrid Loseth; her brothers: Johnny (Elana), Albert (Mary), Clifford (Clara), Gordon (Wilma), Louis & Earl; her sisters: Bertha Loseth, Gladys (Joe) McTavish, Lillian (Andrew) Ringdahl, Mildred (Kaarlo) Hermanson, Helen (Arvo) Paju and Evelin & Helen in infancy; and a brother in law Alvin Simonar Memorial Donations in memory of Hazel may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
