Obituary of Karen Morgan

Karen Gay Morgan of Shellbrook passed away at home on Friday, August 12, 2011. Karen was born on October 1st, 1964 to Alan and Margaret Muirhead, and was raised on the family farm near Wild Rose. She was interested in the cattle and horses, and travelled to many cattle shows with the family. When she was 15, she was named Shellbrook Rodeo Queen. Karen was active in high school sports. In 1988 she started work as a special care aid at Whispering Pine Place in Canwood, then at Parkland Terrace in Shellbrook in 2001. She enjoyed her work with residents and was a devoted employee until her illness made it impossible to work. Karen developed many close friendships at work, and at the Anglican Church which she attended with her husband Ernie. She enjoyed country living, having a big yard and garden, a few chickens, and lots of room for her family. She looked forward to Friday evening movie night with the children, and caramel dumplings. In 2010 she welcomed the arrival of her first grandson, Connor. Karen leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Ernie Morgan of Shellbrook; her children, Curtis (Courtney) Peters of Airdrie and their son, Connor, Devin (Melissa) Peters of Regina, Carson Peters of Shellbrook; her father, Alan Muirhead of Shellbrook; her brothers, Murray Muirhead of Wild Rose, Garth Muirhead of LaRonge, Carolyn (Maurice) Lemire of Prince Albert; her mother-inlaw, Gail Morgan of North Battleford; her sisters-in-law, Gayla Morgan of North Battleford, Cheyl Morgan of Saskatoon; Barbara Mutch (Rob) of North Battleford; numerous other relatives. She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Muirhead. The funeral service was held at the Community Hall in Shellbrook on Thursday, August 18 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Stephen Harnish as officiant. The eulogy was given by her sons. The pallbearers were Curtis Peters, Murray Muirhead, Garth Muirhead, Maurice Lemire, Devin Peters, Carson Peters. The honorary pallbearers were Karen's former colleagues at Whispering Pine Place and Parkland Terrace Care Homes. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Canada. Interment was in the Shellbrook Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Karen to the Alzheimers Association.
