Obituary of Beulah Ida Stene
STENE - Mrs. Beulah 1921-2011 Mrs. Beulah Ida Stene late of Shellbrook passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2011 at the age of 89 years. Beulah was born November 30, 1921 to Albert and Martha Aug at Yankee Valley District. She was the youngest of six children, 3 boys and 3 girls. Growing up Beulah attended school in Yankee Valley, and was very active in 4-H Beef. Beulah went on to meet the love of her life Oscar Kenneth Stene, and on June 21, 1949 they married. Oscar and Beulah started farming in the Yankee Valley area, and raised six boys and one daughter. Later they sold the family farm to their eldest son Arlo and moved to Parkside. Both missing country living they decided to move to an acreage west of Shellbrook, where Oscar enjoyed animals and Beulah took great pleasure tending to her gardening and tree planting. From there Oscar and Beulah moved into Shellbrook where Beulah lived in her home until three weeks before her passing. Beulah will be remembered as a wonderful cook, she always had pies or desserts prepared for friends and family. Raising seven children, Beulah perfected many jobs from housekeeper, chief cook, nurse, counselor to chauffeur, butcher, hairdresser to firefighter. Their favorite pastimes were attending dances and picnics at Cameo Hall visiting with family and friends. Beulah and Oscar would love to go for drives in the country, never knowing exactly which direction they would go, but always finding someone along the way to stop and visit and to play a card game or two. As their children grew older and moved away, Oscar and Beulah enjoyed road trips to go and see each of them. Beulah was a very big fan of baseball, from watching her favorite Blue Jays on T.V. playing to attending games at Cameo watching her kids playing ball. Beulah was very gifted with an ear for music; she could pick up almost any instrument and play. Beulah will leave fond memories with her grandchildren of always having chocolate and ice-cream around when they came to visit. Beulah said she was so lucky and so blessed to have such a beautiful family and so many wonderful friends, but the truth is we were the blessed ones for being able to be a part of her life and love. Beulah leaves to cherish her memory her children, Arlo (Helen) Stene; Trende (Jocelyn) Stene; Bernie (Joanne) Stene; Myron (Charlene) Stene; Kerry (Karen) Stene; Shari (Boyd) Canaday; Darcy (Debbie) Stene; her grandchildren Duane (Carrie) Stene; Lori-Anne (Dwayne) Morrison; Kevin (Amber) Stene; Troy (Candice) Stene; Dorin (Marcy) Stene; Bradley Stene; Staci Stene; Aaron Stene; Emily Stene; Justin (Heather) Stene; Tarl Stene; Daralyn (Stacy) Stene; Brendon Canaday; Dorin Canaday; Quinton Stene; Darci Stene; Jordan Stene; 20 great grandchildren; a sister in-law Rosie Aug; a brother in-law Bud Headrick. Beulah was predeceased by her husband Oscar Stene; her parents Albert & Martha Aug; her brothers and sisters Orville Aug, Harland (Rhoda) Aug, Archie (Julia) Aug, Elsie Headrick, Myrtle (Harold) Hollowell.
