Obituary of Francis Franson
Francis passed away peacefully September 28, 2011 in Leoville, SK at the age of 90 years. John was born August 30, 1921 in Summit S.D. to John and Prudence Franson, one of seven children. At the age of 7 he and his family moved to the Climax Shaunavon area, farmed with his Mother's brother until the depression hit in the 30's. Land was worth nothing, so along with his Uncle's family they left it all behind and headed north. They moved by covered wagon loaded with as many belongings as possible. With a sign on the wagon which read "Meadow Lake or Bust" they headed north. They ended up staying in a vacant house on the Red Pheasant Reserve for the winter. The following spring they arrived in the Norbury area where he and his siblings attended Woodbury School. In 1943 at the age of 22, John married Elsie Andres and remained on the homestead in the Norbury District. There they attended the Norbury Free Methodist Church. In 1945 he then purchased the Bill Poloski farm where they remained and raised their six children. He resided there until 2010 at which time he joined his wife Elsie in the Evergreen Lodge in Leoville, receiving wonderful care right until the end. He failed rather quickly the past few weeks and passed on to be with the Lord peacefully with family at his side at 1:30 am September 28th, 2011. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 1st, 2011 at the Lakeland Community Church in Spiritwood. Final resting place is the Spiritwood Cemetery.
