Obituary of Kenneth Stuart Elliot
ELLIOT- Mr. Kenneth Stuart Elliot, age 85, late of Shellbrook, passed away in the Herb Bassett Care Home in Prince Albert on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Ken was born on May 21, 1926 in Rozilee, Saskatchewan to Ned and Ella Elliot. Ken worked with his dad on the farm, then was in charge when his dad was called to World War II. He worked on the farm in the summers, and worked winters in Prince George driving a team of horses at a logging camp. In 1952 he married Doreen Donald, and began working with Cliff Moss at Eldstrom's Garage. In 1960 Ken became part owner of the business, which was renamed Shellbrook Auto Body, and worked there until 1989. Ken and Doreen had five children, and spent countless hours volunteering for hockey, cubs, 4-H, and coaching ball. He served on Town Council, the School Board, Church Vestry, the Curling Club, and the Elks. He was interested in horses, fishing, camping, gardening, long walks, and rodeos. He enjoyed music and dancing, which he also appreciated at the Herb Bassett home. In 2004, Alzheimer's set in, and Ken moved to the Herb Bassett home, where he developed special relationships with his caregivers. He had strong character, was honest and hard working, and believed that real men drove Chevy's.
