Obituary of Andrew Boechler
The passing of Andy happened on Thursday, November 24, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday November 29, 2011 at 12:00 noon from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Spiritwood, SK. Andrew John Boechler was born in Allan, Saskatchewan on June 1, 1918. He attended school in Allan until the age of 13 at which time the family moved to Mildred, Saskatchewan. At the age of 14 Andy accompanied his father in bringing the steam engine and threshing machine from Allan to Mildred. A long, slow and uncomfortable journey that took several days. Andy and his father broke land, sawed lumber and did custom threshing in the area. Andy obtained his steam and refrigeration certification and worked at the Parkside and Shellbrook creameries, Prince Albert Dairy and Poultry Pool, then thePurity Dairy in Saskatoon. While in Mildred, he met a young school teacher, who had started her career there. Andy and Margaret were married on May 2, 1942. Shortly after their marriage, Andy joined the army. He served until November 1945. Andy and Margaret raised three boys, Jack, Mark and Les. Andy and Margaret bought a farm where they resided until 1979 when they moved into Spiritwood. Among Andy's contributions to his community were terms spents as councillor and Reeve of the RM of Spiritwood and member and Chair of the Spiritwood Union Hospital Board. Andy's political views were no secret as he was always ready to engage in a lively discussion in this regard. Andy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret (nee: Gaston Speechly) His children: ~ Jack (Carol nee: Booth) and their children: -Daphne and her children, Kaitlyn & Lance Boyer -Vince (Christine nee: Hinke) & children, Jennifer, Andy, Greg, & Megan -Vicki (Raymond) Trach, and children, Bryanna, Dylan & Kayleen -Nola and her son, Lucas ~ Mark (Pat nee: Book) and their children: -Lori (Dwight) Eberle and children, Brittany & Travis Pfeil -Brad (Jennifer nee: MacTavish) and their son, Josh ~ Les (Marlene nee: Riffel) and their children: -Alison (Dale) Fulkerth and children, Jordan, Delaney, Paige, Shelby & Britt -Tari Lynn (Randy) Sather and her son, Noah -Kathy (Don) Arsenault and their children, Hanna and Lauryn His sisters, Annette (Bill) Horning and Lil (Larry) Dupas His sisters-in-law, Caroline Boechler and Della Boechler Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by: His parents, Emmanuel and Katherine (nee: Senger) Boechler, his step-mother, Gertrude Boechler, his siblings, Hugo at age 6, Edwin at age 6 mos., Emma at age 6 mos., Edwin, Otto, and Anne. His granddaughter, Sherry Anne Boechler, and grandson-in-law, Blair Pfeil. Memorial Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Delores Beaulac entrusted with arrangements.
