Obituary of Cyla Primeau

Primeau, Cyla Diana born to loving parents Bill and Lillian Roth on July 28th, 1920 passed away January 14th, 2012. She and her 5 siblings grew up on a small farm south of Mildred. Cyla went to grade one, leaving school to help at home. She had a hard time reading and writing but she knew how to use an axe and a saw. When her grandfather died God granted her a first blessing. She spoke of how she saw outside his bedroom window a golden stairway appear and angels coming down to greet him. In 1943 she married her husband and lifelong friend Wilfrid Primeau. Wilfrid came from a large family, he rolled up his sleeves and taught her how to bake bread and knit, she exceled at both and they became her lifelong passion. Wilfrid and Cyla lived in SK, AB, BC, settling finally in Leoville where they loved to camp and fish. Wherever one was, you would find the other not far behind. Wilfrid broke his back in a farm accident in AB so they moved back to Shell Lake, she tended to the challenge of her injured husband and 4 children the youngest being a new born, by doing odd jobs to provide for her family. At 75 the first bout cancer hit, allowing her to accept the power of the Virgin Mary. She got Holy Water to drink from Our Lady of Lourdes at St. Laurent. Cancer returned 5 years later; she plowed forward, and beat it. At 85 she developed yet another form of cancer. Advised that she would probably not make it through, Cyla's determination and great faith gave her yet another miracle. Not long after this Wilfrid was placed in the Evergreen lodge and this became Cyla's new passion. She volunteered at the home where as she put it "she helped the old people". She continued to crochet, knit and volunteer. Cyla was a great-great grandmother, celebrated her 90th birthday full of life, and was still volunteering in July of last year just weeks before her 91st birthday when she suffered a stroke. She enjoyed seeing family at the Roth reunion in August and then went into the lodge. She wasn't able to speak but through her expressions she made herself understood. Cyla was very proud of her family and loved to have her grandchildren giving her hugs and kisses. Her motto "Success is not how much money you have but the number of people who love you". Cyla was very, very successful. Funeral Service for Cyla was held Thursday, January 19th, 2012, from St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Leoville, SK with Celebrant Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kunnath. Final Resting Place in the Mildred North Cemetery. She leaves to cherish her memories: Her husband, Wilfrid, her children: Annette (Lawrence) Smith of Mildred, SK, Victor (Mary Anne) Primeau of Lloydminster, SK, Gladys (Rene) Henri of Leoville, SK, Hazel (Rodney) Anderson of Williams Lake, BC, Clifford (Jeri) Primeau of Cochin, SK,14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, her siblings, Tina (Ron) Wasden, George Roth and John Roth and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is predeceased by: her parents, William and Lillian Roth, her sister, Ruth, her brother, Benjamin, and her sisters-in-law, Gail and Edith.
