Obituary of Leo Poulin

It is with profound sadness that the family of Leo Poulin announces his passing on June 25th, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Leo was born in Cutknife, Sask. on July 2nd, 1925. He grew up on a farm north of Leoville and went to school for a few short years, then helped out on the farm and in the bush. Leo had a real ear for music. He played numerous instruments, but his love was the violin. He played at house parties, then later for dances. Leo married Rolande and had three children. After a few years in Port Alberni, BC, and Prince Albert, they decided to move back to Leoville and in '61 bought Poulin's Garage. He fixed and sold farm equipment and vehicles. In '67 he was rewarded for sales with a trip to the Bahamas, which they both enjoyed. When the garage burnt down, they rebuilt Poulin's Garage where it now stands. They sold the garage to Marcel in '79 and he worked with Marcel a few years before retiring. Retirement was good to Leo- grandchildren came along, music was an everyday thing, fishing, and cards. Then he found a hidden talent, in woodwork-cabinets, cedar chests, wishing wells, bookcases, Barbie houses and a tiny fiddle. When he could no longer do woodwork, he walked and many miles he made. We all remember seeing him many times a day, walking to the Post Office, the store, for coffee with friends and to the garage to help however he could. In the past year or so, his health failed. He could not do his daily treks, but still enjoyed company. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Dong on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Leoville, SK. Ed Samson and Phil Marion directed the music. Cross bearer was Tyler Poulin. Readers were Shayna Kuffert, Stacey Saam and Pauline Thiel. Megan Poulin, Lance Booker & Tara Kuffert brought up the offerings. Sue & Ed sang a special music selection. Urn Bearer was Marcel Poulin. Honorary Pallbearers were "All grandchildren and great grandchildren and all who have shared in Leo's life." Memorial Donations in memory of Leo may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Leo was laid to rest in the Leoville Cemetery. Leo was an easy-going, soft spoken, fun-loving, humorous and friendly man who will be sadly missed by all. Breathe, Leo, keep those feet tapping to the music, smile and enjoy the card games with family and friends. Beau "Lac" Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements 306-883-3500. Email condolences sent through www.beaulacfuneralhome.com will be forwarded to the family.
