Obituary of Louis Volgyi
With heavy hearts the family anounce the passing of Louis Volgyi on August 23, 2012. Funeral Service for Louis will be held Tuesday, August 28th at 2:00pm from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Spiritwood SK. Interment will follow in the Spiritwood Cemetery. Louis was born to George and Elizabeth Volgyi in the Norbury District. He was the younger twin with Helen being older by one hour. Louis learned to have a work ethic at a young age, working with his Dad on the farm. Besides farming the family would travel to the Lethbridge every spring to work in the sugar beet fields. Louis later left home in his teens to work for other farmers. Later on he did construction work on grain elevators and worked for the Department of highways, which he retired from. In his retirement Louis had a small snow plowing business in winter and would work up gardens in the spring and fall. Louis had many hobbies, such as reading, playing solitaire and collecting coins and stamps. He also loved to coffee and would be in the coffee shop several times a day. Louis would also cook, his meals often included food from his garden. In Louis' younger days he loved to ride horses and was quite a good horseman. Louis also had musical talent and played the harmonica, zither and button accordion. Driving was another love of Louis'. He would drive around town many times a day, he later rediscovered his love of riding a bike and would bike all over town. He would walk many times a day out to where his machinery was stored by the creek. Louis loved fishing and for a long time supplied us with fish from Larson Lake. He, Joe Walter and Joe Knutson would fish together, other times he'd go on his own. Louis was a generous, kind-hearted soul buying tickets for any fundraisers, planting spruce trees at the cemetery and helping in any way he could. I know that Louis would have been so appreciative of the care, kindness and attention he recieved at the lodge. He always had a big smile and sparkling eyes for whoever talked to him. When Louis had his snowplowing business he would plow the snow at the Church. Father Marchildon would try to pay him for doing this and Louis would reply, "No, that maybe one day St. Peter would remember him for that." I'm sure that he has Uncle Louis. Memorial Donations in memory of Louis may be made to the Idylwild Lodge Auxiliary. Email condolences will be forwarded to the family. Delores Beaulac entrusted with arrangements.
