Obituary of Maria Laventure

Her family wishes to announce that Maria passed away peacefully on Nov 13/2012 at the age of 95. A Funeral mass was held in St. Therese Catholic Church in Leoville Sk on Nov 17, 2012. Maria Adele Hannotte was born in Prud'homme Sk on Feb 23, 1917. She is survived by her 3 children Morris(Adele) Laventure of Leoville Sask, Annette St. Cyr of Calgary Ab and Sylvia(Luc) Pouliot of Saskatoon Sk., ten grandchildren: Nicole(Jeff) Vaagen, Lina(Ben)Weeks, Celine(Rod) Danko, Carolyn Laventure, Daniel(Marieve)St. Cyr, Michelle(Rob) Avis, Gilles St. Cyr, Les(Ashley) Pouliot, Darren Pouliot, Derek Pouliot, nine great-grandchildren: Brianna, Elliott & Ainsley Vaagen, Emmett & Olivia Weeks, Ethan Danko, Nathan & Zachary St. Cyr and Rowan Avis. She was pre-deceased by her husband Adjutor on Nov 12/1993. Maria spent the 1st one third of her life in the Prud'homme Vonda area and then went into business with her brother Johnnie in the Antler Hotel in Mildred in the late 40's. She married Adjutor Laventure in 1949 and together they owned and managed the Leoville Traveller's Hotel till 1966. She spent the last 46 years in her home in Leoville, enjoying gardening and contributing to her family and community in a variety of ways. She was still an active volunteer with the church and with the Leoville Auxiliary Health Care. Her faith was central to her daily life. She was an inspiring woman who had a very long, productive and exemplary life of service. She may have planted her last garden in 2012 but her love of labour and family remains locked forever into our hearts and minds. "The strong family values that Grandma and Grandpa have forged, lives on in all of us and is something that we will continue to pass on for generations to come. We are humbled by the enormity of the shoes that she has left to fill, but have faith that we will all continue to be inspired by her legacy to boldly move forward in our own lives in tribute to her. Grandma, may your passing be comforted by the satisfaction of a life well lived and the strong presence of your loving family." Memorial Donations in Marias memory may be made to Leoville Health Care Auxiliary. Email condolences will be forwarded to the family.
