While they raised their three daughters, Les spent many hours volunteering in the community, including auctioning at a variety of fundraising events, coaching “Red Devils” senior hockey team, announcing at parades, etc. They moved to acreage outside Mildred, soon after selling the motel. Les loved spending time with family, especially all his grandchildren. He enjoyed having them all come to the farm to visit. Les took much pleasure in the beauty of nature. He spent many hours with his wife and family, fishing in the summer, ice fishing, camping, watching birds and all the wild life that came in his yard.
