Obituary of Omer Bourassa

It is with sadness that the family of Mr. Omer Bourassa wish to announce his sudden passing on the 19th day of January 2013 at the age of 91 years. The Mass of Christian Burial for Omer was held on Friday, January 25th, 2013 at 11:00 am from the Scared Heart Roman Catholic Church in Spiritwood, SK with Rev. Fr. Dong as celebrant. Omer is survived by his wife of 63 years, Laurette, his six children, 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Omer is predeceased by two sons-in-law and two grandchildren. Omer was born in Souris Valley, North Dakota on December 23, 1921. In 1946 Laventure, SK. became the place where Omer would spend most of his life. Throughout the next five decades Omer and Laurette raised their six children on the farm. Their farming operations included grain, livestock, dairy, moving houses, driving school bus and 4-H played a major part of their family life. Omer retired and moved to Spiritwood in 1986 and purchased the home they have resided in ever since. Omer was an avid gardener and took great pride in his garden always having an abundance of vegetables to proudly share with anyone who came to visit. He kept very active playing pool, curling, bowling, senior activities, and volunteering with the Knights of Columbus. Omer loved to challenge anyone to a good game of cards. Omer was a husband, a father, a father -in-law, a grandfather, a great grandfather, a brother, a brother-in-law, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend --- he had the ideal qualities of a person who exemplified these roles his entire life. Omer had a special way that warmed the hearts of everyone who knew him – and the qualities that made him the wonderful person he was have left us all with beautiful memories. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Omer may be made to the Laventure Cemetery in care of Beau "Lac" Funeral Home, Spiritwood, SK S0J 2M0 Edward Beaulac of Beau "Lac" Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
