Obituary of Ellen Ruel

Ruel, Ellen - On July 6, 2006 Ellen Ruel passed away peacefully in Saskatoon at the age of 75. She was born on September 29, 1930 in Brockington, SK to Victor and Grace Pearson. A short time later, the family moved to the Polwarth area and this is where Ellen was raised with two brothers and five sisters. At an early age, she discovered her love for the outdoors. While Ellen was growing up, their house was full of music and singing. She married Laurent Ruel on October 16, 1952 and from this union, they had five children. They moved to the family farm in 1953. Ellen always had a big garden, and she could knit or sew anything you could imagine. She was happiest at home with her family around her; however she loved to go for Sunday drives. She also loved to play cards, tile rummy or card rummy. Ellen and Laurent have 15 grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She loved each one of them dearly. Mom, we love you more than words can say, we will miss you dearly. Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband of 54 years Laurent Ruel of Debden, SK; her children Claude (Elaine) Ruel of Debden, SK, Marilyn (Kelly) Wright of Calgary, AB, a son in law Grant Nixon of Cochrane, AB, Lenore (Brett) Eskes of Prince Albert, SK and Shelly Ann (Jim) Willoughby of Shellbrook, SK; her grandchildren Jeffrey (Erin), Steven & Jonathan Ruel, Andrew, Derek & Bradley Wright, Shelley (Chris) Monaghan, Matthew, Kenny Nixon & Terina (James) Purdy, Brett Jr., & Sarah Beth Eskes and Shane, Paige & Emily Willoughby; a sister Evelyn Anderson; a sister in law Ellen Pearson as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter Charlene Nixon; her parents Grace (Halvorson) and Victor Pearson; her mother and father in law Alphonsine (Lajeunesse) and Amdee Ruel; her sisters Hannah Scott, Myrtle Pearson, Alice McDonald and Marion Schutte; her bothers Walter Pearson and Carl Pearson; her brothers in law Gordon Scott, Alden Anderson, Allen McDonald and Allan Schutte. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, July 11th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Debden with Reverend Father Nick Ferreras as the celebrant. The cross bearer was Derek Wright and the readers were Jeffrey Ruel and Shelly Ann Willoughby. The eulogy was read by Larry Chalifour. The music director was Pauline Tetreault and the choir was accompanied by organist Angela Tetreault. Honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends that shared in Ellen's life and the active pallbearers were Jonathan Ruel, Steven Ruel, Andrew Wright, Shane Willoughby, Brett Jr. Eskes and Matthew Nixon. Ellen was laid to rest in the Debden Cemetery.
