I met Gerry through MySolarWorld.net. I was the guy recording the video for the website and I took a few photos for him. I was always very impressed with Gerry's commitment to solar energy. I was hoping someday to work with him/for him or at least helping further his business.
People like Gerry are hard to come by. He was a swell fellow. He will be missed by the renewable energy/sustainability crowd. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. He planted a lot of seeds, with luck they will grow into a whole new group of people who care about Mother Earth.

To the Kendel Family,
I am so sad to hear of Gerry's passing. My heart and prayers go out to you all.
I met Gerry way back when and remember him always with a big head of hair and a contagious smile, a great sense of humour and always looking for fun. I think it was near Christmas 1972; he gave me a puppy from the farm dog's litter and I was ecstatic to take home little Rex. Of course, my mom and dad weren't all that happy but my older sister and brother-in-law came to the rescue and Rex lived until 1985, passing on the same day as my dad.
As happens, high school ends and we grow up, move, start our independent lives. I didn't see him again for many, many years. In 2004, we had just moved back to Saskatchewan, and he came in to my work place to pay a bill. What a surprise that we even recognized each other after 30 years! We had a quick catch-up chat and in those couple minutes, I knew he was the same kind person, but like the rest of us, a little older, a little wiser! He seemed happy in his life, and very, very proud of his children.
I just wanted to share those small memories with you and hope you find comfort in knowing that Gerry touched many people in his short life.
Yours in sympathy,
Patti (Paulson) & Kevin Cook

Over the past number of years, Gerry and I had lost touch. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.
In our younger years, Gerry and I spent quite a bit of time together, both at work and at play. I considered him my best friend.
Gerry had a zest for life like few others I knew. One moment I'll never forget was in the mid-70's. I ran out of gas in my car in downtown Calgary during rush hour. Horns blared, drivers yelled and made unfriendly gestures. I wanted to crawl under the car and hide. Gerry thought it was great fun as he smiled and waved at passers by. You'd have thought he was the mayor on parade.
Gerry was the kind of friend that would never see you stuck. He was always willing to lend a hand when one was needed. The world is a poorer place without him.
I'd like to express my deepest sympathy to Gerry's family and friends. He was taken from us far too soon.

Dear Kendals
I found out tonight about Gerry's death. I had heard he was having trouble with his kidneys but was unaware that he was in hospital with serious issues. I am sorry that I didn't get to visit him. As you know, he and Martin had a special friendship and shared some adventures together. Gerry was quite attentive during Martin's last days, coming often to spend time with him at our house. I have cherished the memory of his committment to their friendship and appreciated Gerry for that. I join with you in your sorrow at this time.
Respectfully
Ann Dupuis
