I offer my sincere condolences to Mrs. Chalifour's family at this sad time. I was one her many students...I wonder if she knows how many children she helped to shape over the years?! It takes a very special person to be a teacher...to give of yourself, every day, to so many children and their families. To know how to influence those children, who all have their own unique and complicated personalities and learning styles, to learn...it is a gift.
I want to share a story with her family:
I am frequently commended for my great handwriting, how neat it is. I always give credit to Mrs. Chalifour. I reply with, "thanks to my Grade Three teacher! She was very particular, very fussy, about how we formed our letters and made us practice every day." I still remember having to make 10 "O"'s inside one...it took concentration and committment, but it was worth it. She appreciated my effort, and to this day, so do others that have to read my writing. Thank You, Mrs. Chalifour! I wish there was as much focus in the classrooms in this generation!
I wish I could be at your service, Mrs. Chalifour, on Friday, but although physically absent, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Rest peacefully! Thank YOU!
