Obituary of Clifford James Beyer

Clifford James Beyer Born in Bottineau, ND, USA on November 16th, 1928 Died in Leoville on August 29th, 2013 Cliff of Chitek Lake, SK died peacefully at the age of 84 years at the Evergreen Center, where he had been a resident for the last 6 years. When Cliff was 6 months old, Cliff’s parents, Bob & Alice Beyer, moved to Canada and bought a farm by Vidora, SK where they lived until 1942. When he turned 14 they moved to Herbert, SK, where he finished school. In 1947, he met Marianne Roemer and they were married in 1951, in Herbert, SK. In 1963, Cliff moved the family north to Timberland, where he tried farming for a couple of years. In 1967, after little success with farming and working odd jobs, he moved to Chitek Lake and bought a house. Cliff and Marianne raised their growing family for 47 years in Chitek Lake. Cliff had a vast knowledge about a lot of different subjects, because over the years he had worked at a lot of different jobs; he did Army reserve training, he worked ranches and small farms, he also tried his hand at farming, he worked in the bush and at a sawmill, for 12 years, he was the Chitek Lake curling rink caretaking, ice maker, and also a curler, he worked at John Bosco Camp as a maintenance man for 9 years until he retired. In 1980, he got a year round job, in Chitek, for the next 8 years he was the town maintenance man, until an accident ended his ability to work. He was able to relax, travel and spend time visiting with his family and friends, which they enjoyed. Cliff and Marianne were married for 62 years and during that time they raised 12 children. Cliff will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marianne and by his daughters: Barbara (James) Nelson, Janet Beyer (Barry), Mary (Bernie) Carpentier, Sharon Bowcott (Robert), Carol (Dan) Danyluk, Dorothy (Noel) Pouliot and Gail (Ken) Armstrong. His sons: Denis Beyer, Harold Beyer, Franklin Beyer and Gregory (Kari) Beyer. A brother Floyd Beyer and a sister Dorothy Voth, his foster brother Bill Hanlin and a sister in law Dora Hershmiller. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Cliff was predeceased by his parents Bob & Alice Beyer, a sister Laurel Beyer, a foster sister Gloria Armstrong, a son Raymond Beyer, a granddaughter Sheri Nelson, a grandson Cory Pouliot, a brother in law Vic Voth, a sister in law Vi Beyer and his in-laws John & Susie Roemer. Cliff will be remembered as a kind, caring, hardworking man and will be greatly missed by his wife Marianne and their 11 surviving children. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in Cliff’s name can be made to the Activities Department of the Evergreen Center, Leoville, SK.
