Obituary of Elsie Egeland

It is with deep sadness that the family of Elsie Egeland announces her passing on October 3, 2006 in Spiritwood at the age of 78 years. She was born in Vancouver, BC and moved to Birch Lake at 1 year old. Elsie remained in that area for the rest of her life. She married Noble Egeland on May 31, 1946. They trapped, hunted, farmed and ran a small sawmill together. Elsie and Noble raised their family and enjoyed their grandchildren. We will miss you lots, but we were so lucky to have had you. Elsie will be remembered and sadly missed by her sons Vern (Evelyn) Egeland of Birch Lake, SK and Ben (Debby) Egeland of Birch Lake, SK; her grandchildren Jeff (Nicole) Egeland and their children Bailey, Seana, Dawson, Jada & Tyce of Dalmeny, SK, Shelley (Mark) Harms and their children Carson & Miles of Glenbush, SK, Clint (Rachelle) Egeland and their children Marshal, Wendal & Cort of Birch Lake, SK, Mark Egeland (Christin Baynes) of Birch Lake, SK, Norman Knot (Misty Hagen) and his daughter Carley of Birch Lake, SK, Byrle Friesen (Denis Johnson) and her children Coral & Ray of Big River, SK; one great great granddaughter Madison Krienke; her sister Dorothy Orr of Parksville, BC; her son in-law Klaas Knot of Birch Lake, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents James and Eva Barron, her husband Noble Egeland, her daughter Jane Knot, her great grandson Wade Janzen Egeland, her brother Roddy (Helen) Barron, her brother in-law Ken Orr as well as many other relatives and friends The funeral service was held on Friday, October 6th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bethel Lutheran Church in Medstead, SK with Pastor Richard Prankev officiating. The organist was Hilda Eberle who played the congregational hymns Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace and In The Garden. The honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Elsie's life and the urn bearer was Mark Egeland. The eulogy was read by Mark and Shelley Harms. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Spiritwood & District Health Complex Foundation - Long Term Care. Elsie was laid to rest in the Medstead Municipal Cemetery.
