I have learned about Mr. Balan from his son who i have the pleasure of working with and i have heard stories of his childhood growing up and working at the Gas Station and the memorable moments shared between Al and his Dad. He always spoke fondly of the welding that his dad did back at the shop and the one thing that resonated was the experience of treating everyone regardless of the job their are doing the same. Wishing the family the best and condolences.

I lost my father.
Can one lose what one never had?
The Search:
permanent, engrossing and sad
that I never had him
to search for a memory
to pretend, to make one up
of a rainy afternoon in his garage,
of arguments uncertain or
touch revealing.
I forgot to question:
Why it is that
the sun remains without
the sky,
the photograph without the joy,
the feeling without understanding
why?
On the edge of time
I stand,
Facing neither inward nor
outward, past or beyond,
without a hand to point
to the paths and places of lost time.
So long Father.

Sending condolences to all of the family. George's Service Station was a stopping place with my Grandpa Joe Sluchinski many years back. He loved going for coffee. He would stop in there and pick up ice cream for us kids on the farm. They were usually half melted by the time it made it to us but was still enjoyed. Such a landmark for the community.

Sending our condolences to all of the family. We were frequent visitors to the store over the years and our boys really loved those skidoo trips that ended in a treat. George was one of a kind and his obituary really reflects that. He will be sadly missed in our community. Alan and LanI Scragg

My heart felt condolences to all the Family . I truly have fond memories of George growing up with the boys . I remember George had the famous brush cut and took no guff from anyone. Onetime I was hanging out at the garage with the boys . It was a bad year for moths. We sat drinking coffee looking out the window George got up briefly returned to enjoy his coffee. Little did he know the moth was backstroking in it . We sat in silent anticipation of his huge gulp . I busted a gut as he gagged and hacked but I don't recall the moth coming back out .
Spent many good days hanging with the Balans . Time drew us apart but my memory is your all family I appreciate all the great memories & time spent together. RIP George
