Obituary of Ean Gregory Prosser

Ean Prosser

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ean Gregory Prosser on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the age of 57 years.

Ean was born in Shellbrook, SK on October 26, 1966, to Dennis and Ruth Prosser. Ean grew up on the family farm south of Shellbrook and completed his K-12 schooling in Shellbrook.

Upon high school graduation Ean worked at a variety of jobs including working for local farmers, as a combine mechanic, hauling bulk fuel, and driving school buses.

Ean began dating his soulmate Colleen (Rogerson) while working in Leask. Collen went off to university to study to become a schoolteacher, and he followed one year later to become a high school math teacher. Colleen and Ean were married in Leask on July 14, 1990, while still both attending university.

After university graduation, the two began their first teaching assignments in the summer of 1993 in Baker Lake, NU. The two taught for four years until Colleen’s failing health brought them back home to Saskatchewan in 1997 to be near medical care.

Ean started teaching in Debden, SK in January of 1998 and has been teaching high school math, physics, chemistry, and calculus there up until his passing. Ean touched the lives of many students from both Baker Lake and Debden. Since Ean and Colleen had no children of their own his students were seen to him as “his kids”.

Ean lived a fairly simple life, and it didn’t take a lot to keep him content. He loved spending time with his wife Colleen and his dogs, going for quad rides, attending concerts, farming, and of course cheering for his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ean is lovingly survived by his wife, Colleen Prosser of Morin Lake, SK; his mother, Ruth Prosser of Shellbrook, SK; his brother, Allen Prosser of Shellbrook, SK; his parents-in-law, Derril and Sylvia Rogerson of Leask, SK; his uncle and aunts, Bruce (Mary) Stieb of Shellbrook, SK and family Joele (Darren) Fidler and their children Jordyn and Jaryn, Leon; Muriel (Gerald) Lanes of Shellbrook, SK, and family Laurie & Sheldon; Julie (Bert) Gustafson of Shellbrook, SK and family, Michelle (Greg) Folmer and their children, Chandler & Reid; Carmen Campbell and son Andy; Barbara Klingspohn of Port McNeill, B.C. and family, Liesa (Josh) Blackstaffe and son Jimmy; his cousins, Tammy Stieb and daughter Karlina Cadieu; Tina (Brad) Stene and children, Brianna & Travis; as well as numerous other relatives, and friends.

Ean was predeceased by his father, Dennis Prosser; his cousin, Lyle Stieb; his sister-in-law, Laura Rogerson; his paternal grandparents, Desmond & Camilla Prosser; his maternal grandparents, Arthur & Anne Stieb; his uncles and aunts, Rodney Prosser, Ted Klingspohn, and Mervin & Pat Stieb.
