Obituary of Walter Martens
Walter Martens was born September 2,1933 in Rabbit Lake, SK and passed away April 11, 2024, in North Battleford, SK at 90 years of age.
Walter is lovingly remembered by: his wife: Rosella Martens of North Battleford, SK, his children and grandchildren: Charlotte (Trevor De Ryck) of Winnipeg, MB and family: Ben (MeiMei Miller) and Daniel, Theo (Michelle Janzen) of Glenbush, SK and family: Thomas (Emma March) and Ella, Valerie (Darryl Dyck) of Winnipeg, MB and family: Seth (Danica Franz), Matthaeus, and Micah, Myron (Joanne Thiessen) of Winnipeg, MB and family: Anna and Jonas, his siblings: John Martens of North Battleford, SK, Anita Froese of Saskatoon, SK, Hertha Friesen of Rosthern, SK, Peter (Terry) Martens of Cater, SK, his siblings-in-law: Verna (Leroy Peters), Marlene Martens, Margaret Martens, Wilfred (Mary Anne), and Art also numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Predeceased by his parents: Abram and Anna Martens, his siblings: Judith, Henry, Helen, Abe, and Cornie, his brothers-in law: Sam Bergen, Art Froese and Erwin Friesen, his sisters-in-law: Evelyn Martens and Hedy Klassen.
The Committal service was held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 10:30 am at Fields of Hope Mennonite Church, Glenbush, SK with Reverend Don Unger Officiating. Interment was in the Hoffnungsfelder Cemetery, Glenbush, SK. Pallbearers were Thomas Martens, Seth Dyck, Micah Dyck, Jonas Martens, Matthaeus Dyck, Ben De Ryck, Anna Martens, Ella Martens, and Daniel De Ryck.
A Memorial service was held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Territorial Drive Alliance Church, North Battleford, SK with Pastor Keith Klippenstein, Pastor Don Unger and Pastor Dean Covert officiating. Music ministry was provided by Les Klippenstein, Kathy Covert, Naomi Unger, Matthaeus Dyck, Micah Dyck, Anna Martens, Ella Martens, and Joanne Thiessen Martens. The eulogy was given by Anna Martens and Ella Martens. Special tributes were also given by Walter’s children and grandchildren.
Memorial Donation may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 600 45 Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7L – 5W9 in memory of Walter Martens as tokens of remembrance.
